SOA 256 for 3 (Leigh Tomlinson 64, Ed Phillips 83no)

SOA arrived for the final game of a very sucessful Oxford Downs cricket week on another scorching hot day. Downs on winning the toss had little hesitation in batting and bat they did. Quick contributions from Chris Wakefield jnr 45 , Shalto Hunt 59, Freddie Smith 42no and Tom Ettridge 74no allowed the Downs to declare on 267 for 7 with 45 x 4s and 4 x 6s. At one point they had raced to 170 for 7 off 24 overs! Well done to Lewis North toiling away in the heat for a return of 4-88

After a splendid tea SOA set off in pursuit of victory but soon found themselves at 78-5. Repairing the situation was carried out by Ed Phillips 83no and Leigh Thomlinson 64 putting on 103. With quick cameos from Sam Herbert and Lewis North we were able to get to a situation of requiring 6 off the last ball to win. Ed failed to despatch it and the game ended in an honourable draw.
