Captain Alex Wildman

Lost by 6 Wickets

SOA 212 all out (Alex Ross 48, Ayyaz Mallick 38)

Horspath 215 for 4 (Lewis North 3 for 36)

The late July visit to Horspath is always enjoyed by the SOA team and this year produced another game that felt closer than the scoreline would suggest. After a summer of sun, an hour of drizzle midway through Horspath's innings made fielding difficult and saw a number of dropped catches before the sun returned to shine on the players enjoying a post match drink and catch up.

Ayyaz and Shiraz set a solid 55 opening partnership after which wickets fell steadily until Alex Ross's excellent and much needed 48 brought SOA's total to a respectable 212 all out in the 44th over.

Lewis North was the pick of SOA's bowling and at 127-4 the match was evenly poised. Some dropped catches and an excellent innings from Horspath's Sam Leslie, a personal high score of 87, brought the hosts a deserved win.

Post match conversations centred around the sad loss of Thomas Pritchard in 2024. Pritch had managed this game for Horspath and it was proposed by our hosts that the match in named in his honour in future years.
