Captain Paddy Daniel
Won by 36 runs
SOA 238 for 5 dec (Shiraz Hussain 100 Ret not out, Lewis North 33 )
North Devon 202 all out (Aakif Imthiyaz 3 for 62, Jack North for 56)
SOA were graced with a beautiful day for the first of the North Devon games played at the idyllic Instow ground where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet. On losing the toss SOA were inserted against a youthful North Devon side that brought back memories of when the Overton brothers were in opposition around 20 years ago. SOA's innings was based around a hundred from Shiraz Hussain at nearly a run a ball. With useful contributions from Alex Ross 21, Pierre Du Plessis 24, David Ferris 21 and Lewis North 33 they were able to declare on 238 for 5 off 44 overs.
With the last hour from 6pm this gave SOA plenty of time to bowl North Devon out.
Having progressed to 70 for 3 SOA introduced the spinners with Jack North left arm orthodox 3-56 and Aakif Imthiyaz leg spin 3-62 they started to work their way through the North Devon order. Until the lower order became a little stubbon. Finally Captain Daniel ran out of options and called upon Andy Capel who obliged with his second ball of the 46th and final over to give SOA a well crafted victory.
