Manager Danny Dawson
Lost by 7 wickets
SOA 166 all out (Bharat Ramanathan 56, Nawaz Ali 50)
Abingdon School 169 for 3
Both weather and ground at Abingdon School were set fair for a competitive match. The school's opening bowlers Simpson and Watson were pacy and proved too skilful for the SOA top order, who scored slowly and lost their wickets for too few runs.
Nawaz Ali and Bharat Ramanathan were more positive in their attempt to stabilise the innings, both scoring half-centuries. Unfortunately, after they fell in quick succession, the SOA innings petered out for a total of 166.
After consuming a very nice tea, SOA knew quick wickets were required to put the school's batters under pressure. It was not to be, however, with all the top five contributing to bring victory in a little more than 28 overs. The pick of the batters was Charlie Sutton with a brisk 58 not out. It was an enjoyable contest, played in the right spirit, but on the day SOA were beaten by a good Abingdon School team.
