The toss was won by SOA and without hesitation batted on what looked like a very batter friendly track, Swappy and Shiraz got down to work with a solid start with an excellent run rate. Shiraz fell cheaply which bought Pres Edward to the crease, they combined for a brilliant 127 run partnership until Ed departed on 43. Swappy was cruising to his ton when a lapse in concentration saw him caught at cover on 99 but left us in a great position to get quick runs, Alex Ross chipped in with 25 and we declared at 7/245.

A splendid tea of piping hot lasagne was enjoyed before heading out to the field. Danny Dawson and Andrew Capel opening the bowling and had no luck in removing the openers, with both looking very solid. Dave Eaton and Alex Ross were brought on to break the partnership and that’s exactly what they did with 3 quick wickets. Hardy Linnel was cruising to a ton and perhaps victory against the mid innings bowling when Ross and Eaton were brought back and again didn’t disappoint, Dave Eaton finished with magical figures of 11ovs 5-43  and Alex Ross 8ovs 3-39 to clear up the tail and give the SOA a superb victory by 23 runs

It was then off to The Elephant to listen to the Presidents version of Swing low Sweet Chariot
