Radley College  9 May 2024

Manager Nick Bishop

Lost by 3 Wickets

SOA 193 for 4 dec (Shiraz Husain 85*, Pete King 55)

Radley College 194 for 7  ( Sam Hicks 8 for 22)

Due to Bish being unable to play, the President-elect was asked to captain for the day. The toss was duly won and SOA would bat. A typically eclectic mix of players had made the trip to the school's enormous playing fields, along with the many pupils and parents watching a selection of matches on a sunny afternoon.

After a steady start, Pete King and Alex Ross speeded up the run rate and we declared at 193-4 after 36 overs, the declaration timing being slightly more difficult by the slow over rate.

Following a marvellous tea, provided by our hosts, we had a good mix of bowlers on offer. These included young Sam Hicks, who impressed the school so much that he was offered the opportunity to go for a trial, with a view to getting a cricket scholarship. Radley 3rds batted very well and, even with lots of seasoned bowlers, SOA could not halt the flow of runs.

It was an outstanding day with some excellent cricket on display, well won by the hosts. Thanks to Radley for the day, including beer and pizza in the pavilion post-match.
