A memorable day of cricket and bonhomie on the magical MCS island. SOA manager Ross Buchanan captained the hosts, with Sam Herbert leading the SOA.

Ayyaz put his hand up to be an honorary Old Boy for the day and duly strapped on his pads and led the way with a majestic century full of controlled dash, ably abetted by a swashbuckling 76 off fewer balls from Angus Spittles, OWs registering an imposing 300 declaration, only Matt Todd managing to stem the flow of runs with 3-47 off 14.

In reply, Shiraz’s 57 showed patient skills in the face of some challenging new-ball swing bowling. However, despite solid supporting 30s from Johnny Warner and Kazim Nawaz, the batters couldn’t resist over swiping at the canny and prodigious leg-spin of Huw Anderson-Elliott, who took a clatter of SOA wickets to win the game for the joyous OWs with a five-wicket haul, SOA being all out at the halfway mark.
