Dear reader. We find ourselves again at the picturesque Hambleden village CC , A very happy stomping ground for the SOA over the years . With a glut of players, but one missing overseas umpire. No names! Match manager stepped aside and presented Bish Bash Pres the captain’s armband , to his great Delight!! Toss was won and SOA will Bat.
As Pres and captain Bish decided to lead the team from the front with fellow batsman S Miller both perhaps known more for their bowling, But class will out. Or not! Miller running the Pres out for only 7! Not Marvellous. Still plenty in the hutch. Middle order came in then got out, even giving a chance for a Todd junior senior partnership. With help from the late engine room of Ayaz and Smith tea was taken with a score of 181 to defend. A very similar score to many over the last years .
So with confidence SOA took their full bellies from the excellent tea out into the field to defend a familiar total. Marvellous.
Captain Bish had a great plan open up with the opening batsman it is the law you know. Pres comes off after a one over spell , inspired, to be replaced by the magician Mahoney, ( only maiden we bowled) then Todd replaced Miller , saving golden arm Foster and my arm has been checked Smith, for the end. Alas dear Readers. To no avail. Heartaches take the victory.
Well played both teams Great 86 No from young Hutts. Enjoyable as always . Thanks . We Go Again. New players to this match always welcome.
