Manager Ben Jefferis
Won by 43 runs
SOA 178 all out (James Ellwood 78, Alex Wildman 36)
Buxton Strugglers 181 for 6
Having assembled a very batting heavy team, SOA won the toss and elected to bat first on a damp afternoon at Queens college. Shiraz Husain, Ayyaz Mallick, Swapnil Kulkarni, Dan Hawes and Thomas J Scrase, all came and went for single figures leaving SOA in something of a hole.
Craig Foster and Andrew Capel steadied the ship momently. Capel was then bowled by Goli which brought James Ellwood to the crease at 8 number due to work commitments. His 71 of 69 balls brought some respectability to the innings along with a brisk 36 for Alex Wildman. The final total of 178 was always going to be difficult to defend given the drying conditions and unusually sober Buxton team.
Ram Goli followed up his 3 wickets in the first innings with a well played 58 as opener.
Buxton knocked them off with considerable ease. The pick of the bowlers being Craig Foster and Tom Scrase who's off and leg spin combined well taking two wickets apiece.
As always Dan and his wife put on an amazing spread both during and after the game and we look forward to returning next year with a bit more bowling up our sleeves..
