Abingdon School 28 May 2022

Manager Tim Hook

Lost by 4 wickets

SOA 133 all out (Ben Ling 48)

Abingdon School 137 for 6 (Zac Wilton 2-29)

A sunny afternoon at Abingdon school welcomed SOA. Captain Hook won the toss and elected to bat with the unanimous backing of his team. The SOA openers strode to the wicket to commence proceedings but 2.3 overs later had both returned and with the score to score at 3-2 Alex Wildman was joined by Ben Ling. Ben's free scoring gave the Captain Hook the hope of the luxury of a declaration however when he fell for a breezy 48 in a partnership with Alex of 77, this led to a clatter of wickets. Wildman caught on 26 was followed quickly by Ed Philips and Tom Ling who was the last batter to reach double figures. The declaration was not to be with SOA all out on 133. The Phillips/Ling partnership of 33 being the only other one to reach double figures.

Zac Wilton took the new ball and bowled opener Gray in the first over for a duck, his 10 overs being the pick of the SOA attack. Whilst wickets fell, partnerships of between 25 and 30 runs kept the game in Abingdon‘s favour. Mean bowling by JJ Smith and Craig Foster kept the school's run rate in check and took the game to the penultimate over when Abingdon batsmen Charlie Hunt clinched the game for the school, he finished on an excellent 43 not out.

Our thanks to Abingdon school for hosting us and providing such a large tea that even Messrs Hook and Ling were unable to do it justice.
