SOA v Lord Williams's School Thame, 8 May 2013

Post date: 09-May-2013 07:01:55

Tom Scrase displays the facial injury suffered as a result of Clive Ricks's bowling (Tom was fielding at slip but Clive is still claiming it). I'm not sure to whom the description in the background is referring.

An unpromising weather forecast was thwarted and a competitive fixture resulted, played on an unreliable surface.

SOA bowled the school out for 148, with SOA tourist Brad Rose top scoring for them and 5 wickets for Steve Kelly.

SOA had 32 overs to chase down the total which was worth 180+ due to a holding outfield. An SOA victory looked likely when 13 were needed with 2 overs left, but a tight penultimate over from Aston Rowant player Chris Leany conceded only one run. A win was still possible with 2 balls left but APW's fierce drive was too straight and crashed into the stumps at the bowler's end.

We watched the rain fall from the comfort of the 6 Bells.

LWS 148 all out, SOA 141 for 6.
